As each day goes by, I am learning new ways how to communicate. As I begin to get a better control of my vocal commands, I’m starting to say a few words. Of course, since my vocal skills are not as advanced as my coordination skills, I have been continuing to work on my Sign Language skills. It’s really nice to be able to sign to my parents. Since I can’t tell them what I want verbally, Sign gives me a way to let them know what my needs are. This really does cut back on tantrums and frustrations.
Here is a video of me signing so you can get an idea of how I interact with Mom and Dad.
Let me know what you think by leaving a message for me.
Communication is the key

Wow Tyler – you’re getting soooo brilliant!!!! I think you’re the smartest little boy ever!!!! You’re doing an awesome job signing. You’ll have to start teaching your cousin Kyle. He’s learning some in school since they have a deaf student in kindergarten. He’s really having a fun time learning. So far he seems to be better at spelling the word. Well I’ll have to chat with you a little later – have to do laundry. YUK. Give mom and dad a big hug from me!!! Love, Aunt Patti

Hi Aunt Patti. Mom taught me how to sign Aunt, so I’ll have to show you that next time I see you. I’m even learning how to put words together to form sentences. I’m not great at it, but I’m sure I’ll be surprising people at Thanksgiving!
What’s laundry?
And cousin Kyle is learning sign? You’ll have to make sure he sees this video. I’d be happy to sign with him sometime. I might even make mom help since she knows how to do so.

Thank you Laura. I’m still learning all this stuff, and my coordination is not the best, but I have fun trying, and it’s nice to be able to talk to mom and dad this soon!

you are doing so well. I have watchd your video a whole lot of times as I was afraid I would miss something. Mommy and Daddy you did so fast that I was confused. anyways your expression with the bubbles was wonderful. You are getting cutier every day. Now mom needs to teach you gramma and grammpa. I’ll keep watching the video, and maybe I can larn some too.

Well, she has been working with me, but I have some coordination issues. I know what I need to do, but getting my hand to do it for me is a little tough right now.
I’m glad you think that I’m getting cuter. I think I am to. Dad has been saying that it’s about time I got a haircut, and I’m worried I’ll lose some of my cuteness!
As for the bubbles, I love those things. Aunt Sarah got me a bubble gun and I have a lot of fun with it. My expressions are pretty entertaining to mom and dad as well. It’s really funny when I drop something and say “uh oh” or “oh boy”.
We are hoping to be able to come down for Thanksgiving so hopefully you’ll get the chance to see me work my magic.
Give Grandpa and the rest of the family and extra hug from me!

I don’t know if Dad would agree with that , but I’ll be sure to tell him when I start talking.
